Simple Business Tips from the OfficeSlice Brain Trust
Running a business is overwhelming. You’re constantly on the hunt for potential new clients, working on your marketing, figuring out your bookkeeping, and more. OfficeSlice hosts a monthly mastermind group for its members called, OfficeSlice Brain Trust. During this time, we come together and share business tips that has helped us out. We also brainstorm around current business challenges. Being an entrepreneur doesn’t mean you have to be alone in coming up with the answers. We are a supportive community of business owners, entrepreneurs, startups, independent workers and more!
Here are the tips we shared from our most recent November meeting.
Follow-up on the offer(s) you’ve sent your potential clients
Don’t forget to follow up with your potential clients and see if they got the deal and like the deal! This opens the door to more information, conversation and the ability to develop a relationship.
Network! Network! Network!
A lot of times we feel like attending mixers or networking events can be a waste of time. But I have some good news for you! Opportunities are endless and are everywhere. Go to a networking event to connect, not to sell or find your next client. Think about creating a new relationship, and seeking out those contacts that could become power partners.
Don’t settle for just being active be PROactive
Its important to maintain activity. Make an effort to make one more phone call, meet one more person, and follow up with one more contact! It could mean the world of difference in your business!
Don’t hesitate to refer others
Referring your clients and contacts makes you look good. Remember what Zig Ziglar said, “You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help enough other people get what they want!”
Research what your competitors are doing
Take time out once or twice a quarter to take a peak at what your competitors are doing! Are they moving in a new direction? Adding a new product? Perhaps emulating something that you’re doing? Research and keep an open mind!
When introducing your business, don’t state your title but instead state how you gain results and for whom
People like to know what you can do for them at the end of the day. Your title in business is important, but more important is your ability to provide results for others. Be clear, specific, and concise when explaining how you get results.
Keep it simple. Remember sometimes, less is more.
First rule of keeping it simple is listen to your clients question and give them a short, yet concise and inviting answer. Providing too much detail can be overwhelming especially if its an initial meeting.
Give yourself time to be creative (if you have a team, utilize everyone’s efforts by delegating tasks based on people strengths)
If you allow time in your schedule on a daily or weekly basis to just think and be creative, you’ll be surprised at the ideas you will have that will enhance your business and grow your customer base!
Remember that breaks throughout the day and on weekends are okay. You’re human.
If you are constantly driving yourself and your business at 100 mph, you are bound to run out of gas. So refuel! It’s easy, take short breaks throughout the day, take a lunch hour, and make time during the weekend! You’ll find yourself becoming more productive, and work less!
